LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A U.S. Air Force veteran from Louisville just released a book about her experiences working in communications during crisis, like the terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001.
Angela Billings' book, "Command the Crisis," shares her experiences and advice with how to navigate chaos as a public relations specialist.
"I recall it was eerily quiet once we were departing the building, because typically, cars were speeding past well beyond the speed limit, but in this case everything stopped when the plane crashed into the side of the building," Billings told WDRB News.
A UofL graduate, Billings went on to serve 22 years with the U.S. Air Force in its public relations branch.
Billings also shares her take on local events, like the botched raid at Breonna Taylor's home where Louisville Metro Police shot and killed her in March 2020.
"I would have removed the chief far sooner than they did. I would have had a closer look," she said. "We ultimately had the FBI come in and take a look at Louisville Metro, they did issue a report, and procedures were changed, but this is like a year and-a-half, two years later."
Billings currently serves as the director of communications for the Kentucky Senate Republicans. Her book is available on Amazon for $20.
