LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Bats celebrated U.S. military veterans Sunday.
Active U.S. military and veterans received free tickets to Sunday's game against St. Paul at Louisville Slugger Field. All the servicemembers had to do was show a valid military ID at the box office.
"I absolutely love it," said Joshua Knight, an Afghan War veteran. "I couldn't ask for anything else. Cold beer and baseball."
There were several ceremonies honoring U.S. armed forces members. The Bats also wore special camouflage caps, along with stars and stripes jerseys.
"My daughter and my granddaughter and son-in-law bought me this for my birthday," said Charles Ruckriegel, who served in the Vietnam War.Â
A presentation of colors was held ahead of the singing of the National Anthem. Around 20 recruits and 30 soldiers were also sworn in.Â
