LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Property tax assessment season is here.

The Jefferson County PVA will mail out new assessments on April 24 for homes in Prospect, Norton Commons and the surrounding areas, including: Glenview, Graymoor-Devondale, Anchorage, Lyndon, Hurstbourne, Douglass Hills, Middletown, Lake Forest and Polo Fields.

New assessments can sometimes lead to sticker shock. Homeowners who believe theirs is incorrect can appeal.

Two upcoming meetings will cover the process of appealing an assessment. Those are scheduled for 6:30-8 p.m. April 14 at Lyndon City Hall and April 16 at the Berrytown Recreation Center. The meetings will also be streamed live on the Jefferson County PVA website, here.

City leaders say the first step in the appeal process is to complete the PVA Online Conference, which will be available online from April 24 through May 18. You can complete an appeal online, but assistance will be available at the Southwest and South Central libraries from 12-4 p.m. April 24, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays from April 27 through May 18. You can also schedule an appointment at the PVA office by calling (502) 574-6224.Ā
