LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville firefighters rescued four people after a tree collapsed onto a home in the Taylor Berry neighborhood Friday night.

According to Louisville Fire, a tree collapsed onto a home after storms moved through the area Friday night. Firefighters responded to the 1500 block of Wurtele Avenue, near 7th Street Road, around 10:17 p.m.

Louisville Fire said a tree had collapsed across the center of the home, trapping two adults and two young children. After they were rescued, they were taken to the hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

"Our firefighters responded swiftly and professionally to a dangerous and complex situation," Louisville Fire spokesperson Capt. Donovan Sims said. "Thanks to their training and teamwork, lives were saved last night."

Crews then secured the home's utilities to ensure the area was as safe as possible, according to Sims.

"Natural disasters are something that happens and there seems like they're happening more frequently, but this is a miracle right here," said Jeannie Peak, who lives on Wurtele Avenue.
