LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Erik Howard made Kentucky bowling history Wednesday night at Kingpin Lanes, rolling three consecutive perfect games for a 900 series in the Wednesday Night Mixed League.

Howard threw 36 straight strikes on Feb. 25, finishing with scores of 300, 300 and 300 — the first person in Kentucky to achieve the feat and just the 42nd nationally to record a sanctioned 900 series.

Tension builtin the final moments of the third game as spectators gathered behind his lane. When his 36th strike dropped the pins, the bowling center roared in cheers.

Howard said, “It was absolutely nerve-racking! I’ve been striving for a 900 since I graduated high school. I told myself I was going to do it one day. Now I have to do it again!”

“I don’t have enough thanks in the world for all of the support I’ve gotten from my friends and Kingpin. They knew I could do it,” he said.

A 900 series is one of the rarest accomplishments in the sport, requiring 12 consecutive strikes in each of three games without a single error.

For Kingpin Lanes and the local bowling community, the night marked a milestone that may not be repeated for years.
