LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Free Public Library set a new record for digital checkouts for the fifth straight year.
More than 1.68 million eBooks and audiobooks were borrowed in 2025. Total circulation, including print books, topped 3.6 million.
Kristin Hannah’s The Women was the most borrowed eBook and print fiction book. Other popular titles included Shelby Van Pelt’s Remarkably Bright Creatures and Barbara Kingsolver’s Demon Copperhead.
Bessel van der Kolk’s The Body Keeps the Score was the top nonfiction book. Rebecca Yarros’ audiobook Onyx Storm was the most checked-out audiobook.
Library officials said the numbers show the community’s strong appetite for reading. Residents borrowed books, eBooks, and audiobooks in record numbers across the city
