LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Akiko’s Karaoke Bar, which was set to close after nearly three decades in Louisville’s Highlands, will now remain open for the time being after reaching a last-minute agreement with its landlord.
"We’re good till then," the owner wrote on social media. "This is not what I wanted to agree to, but it’s better than having to leave now. So for now, we’re going to remain open as normal."
While the agreement keeps the business operating for now, the owner said the arrangement comes with limitations, including uncertainty over a potential new landlord and restrictions on renovations.
"The bad thing is that we might have to deal with a new landlord, and also we can’t do any remodeling the way we’d like to," the post said.
"We can’t thank you enough for all your support, and sharing how much you’d missed us and love us."
The bar had previously announced it would be closing after nearly 30 years in business, prompting an outpouring of support from longtime patrons.
Akiko’s Karaoke Bar remains open at this time.
