LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville nonprofit will send nearly $400,000 in medical supplies to Senegal.

SOS volunteers loaded a 40-foot container on Tuesday that will be shipped to the West African country on Friday. The container is filled with supplies to support a new labor and delivery ward to help new mothers deliver babies safely.

Volunteers said it's a rewarding experience.

"Every time I see them packing up a shipping container it's surreal because I'm part of that," said Jada Blackmore, an SOS volunteer. "I get to see what the process is and how far it goes and I'm glad that I get to touch so many lives in other countries."

SOS will also send some general medical items to supply mobile community outreach clinics.
