LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) ā Louisville Parks and Recreation announced the hiring of a second full-time park ranger.
Ron Charles is a retired Louisville Metro Police detective with 20 years of law enforcement experience.
The addition is the first expansion since the chief ranger was brought on a year ago to establish and lead the program.
"Investing in the safety and experience of our parks is a top priority, and adding another full-time park ranger is an important step in that effort," said Mayor Greenberg Monday in a news release. "Ron brings decades of experience in public safety, and his presence in our parks will help ensure these spaces remain welcoming, safe and enjoyable for everyone."
In his new role, Charles will spend most of his time within the parks, patrolling and responding to safety needs when they arise.
His priorities will include engaging with visitors and serving as a visible, approachable presence throughout the park system.
