LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 41-year-old Louisville woman was arrested earlier this week after a body was found in her apartment in the Southside neighborhood last month.

The investigation began Aug. 16, according to an arrest report. That's when officers from the 4th Division responded to reports of a body at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Southland Blvd., off Southside Drive.

When officers arrived at that location, they found "what was believed to be an individual underneath a curtain in the living room." That's when officers got a warrant to search the residence and found the victim "wrapped in a shower curtain, plastic and another curtain placed on top of him."

No further information about the victim is available at this time.

The body was in an "advanced state" of decomposition, according to the arrest slip.

Searcy was arrested on Sept. 9, about a week after she was read her Miranda rights and admitted the victim had overdosed, and that she wrapped up his body and left it there without notifying EMS or police.

Searcy is charged with one count of abuse of a corpse. During her arraignment on Sept. 10, her bond was set at $10,000 cash.

Searcy's next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 20, according to online records.
