LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- After her daughter was diagnosed with a terminal illness, a mother in Maine has a special request for her child's 10th birthday.

Alyssa Cole found out last year she has terminal brain cancer. Alyssa will turn 10 years old on Jan. 16. Her mother Jamie is now asking the public to mail her daughter birthday cards to celebrate.

Jamie said her daughter loves surprises.

"We were hoping that we could just flood her with birthday cards on her birthday," Jamie said. "We are asking them to be shipped to her grandmother's house so we can surprise her all at once on the big day."
