LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man is dead after his car ran off the road and hit a tree in Louisville Monday evening.
Officers were called to the 14000 block of Taylorsville Road near South Pope Lick Road around 8:50 p.m. on a reported crash, Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Aaron Ellis said.
When they got to the scene, officers found a car that had hit a tree head-on. Officers tried to get the driver out of the car, but couldn't, Ellis said. Jeffersontown Fire had to extricate the man out of the car, and EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the driver Tuesday as 42-year-old Clinton Anderson.
Ellis said witnesses told officers Anderson was traveling westbound on Taylorsville Road when he crossed the yellow line, lost control of the vehicle, left the road and hit a tree. Ellis said Anderson wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and there was only one car involved.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating.
