Mom accused of leaving son in hot car admits to lying to police

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB Fox 41)---Molly Shouse was on the stand for a little more than two hours. During that time, told the jury that she didn't take responsibility for anything she said the day her son died.

Molly Shouse told the jury that she and her son, 2-year-old Kenton Brown, were inseparable.

"He was pretty much attached to my hip," says Mollie Shouse.

However, last May, Shouse left her son in her car outside her Lyndon apartment. By the time first responders arrived, it was too late.

Kenton had died in the hot car.

"I asked them why they stopped attempting to stop saving my baby. I asked them why are you stopping," says Mollie Shouse.

That day in an interview with authorities, Shouse's story of what happened changed numerous time, including how long he was in the car, and what she was doing.

"What I was going through at that point, I don't know what I said," says Mollie Shouse.

The prosecution later pressed Shouse on that issue, and she admitted that she lied to police that day.

"And you continued to lie, didn't you," they asked.

"Yes," Mollie Shouse replied.

Shouse recalls how she says authorities treated her that day.

"You remember being treated like a suspect, don't you," Shouse was asked.

"Yes," says Mollie Shouse.

"You remember that they escorted you out of your apartment," the prosecution asked.

"Yes," Shouse answered.

"That they told you to stand against a wall," they asked Shouse.

"How could I forget," says Molly Shouse.

"That's a good question," the prosecution replied.
