LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Monday marks the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Big Four Bridge.
On May 20, 2014, Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore helped cut the ribbon on the old rail bridge, opening the Jeffersonville ramp to pedestrian traffic.
Moore remembers the day well, as it fell on his 50th birthday.
The bridge was first constructed in 1895 as a railroad bridge and operated that way until 1969. Now, an average of 1.5 million pedestrians and bicyclists cross the bridge each year.
