LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police are investigating after a motorcyclist died in a crash with a garbage truck in Louisville's Chickasaw neighborhood early Wednesday.
Officers were called to the crash in the 700 block of Southwestern Parkway, near Shawnee Park, around 2 a.m., according to LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis.
Investigators believe a motorcyclist was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Southwestern Parkway when they collided with a garbage truck that was emptying a dumpster, Ellis said.
The motorcyclist was transported to University of Louisville where they later died.
Ellis said the driver of the garbage truck was not injured.
No additional details about the motorcyclist have been released.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating.
