Wemby misses at the end, Knicks beat Spurs 105-104 for 2-0 lead in NBA Finals
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Go crazy, New York. Or, perhaps more accurately, crazier. The red-hot Knicks are going home, two wins away from an NBA championship that the capital of the world has been waiting to see for generations. Jalen Brunson hit a go-ahead free throw with 9.5 seconds left after a turnover by Victor Wembanyama moments earlier, then Wembanyama missed a jumper at the end of New York’s 105-104 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night for a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals. Karl-Anthony Towns had 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Brunson and Mikal Bridges each scored 20 for the Knicks — who have now won 13 straight, the second-longest streak by any team in NBA playoff history.
Can't afford sky-high tickets to see the Knicks in person? Trump says 'watch it on television'
ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AP) — President Donald Trump says he will attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Monday at Madison Square Garden — and says he doesn't have much sympathy for ordinary Americans who can't afford the sky-high ticket prices. Speaking Friday to reporters on Air Force One, Trump suggested that fans priced out of attending the game in person can watch it on television instead. The president, a longtime Knicks fan, praised the team’s performance in Game 1 against the San Antonio Spurs. He said he thinks Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is a promising player but ducked the chance to weigh in on Wembanyama crossing his arms during the national anthem prior to Game 1.
Bears say they are moving forward with Northwest Indiana location for new stadium
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bears are looking to build a stadium in Northwest Indiana after a proposal to provide financial incentives for the NFL team to build its new home in Illinois stalled in the state legislature. The Bears’ board of directors voted Thursday to move forward with a stadium development project in Hammond, Indiana. The team had been doing its due diligence on a tract of land near Wolf Lake, but it says an exact site has not been selected. The Bears say in a team statement that a stadium in Northwest Indiana "will bring Chicagoland together and deliver new opportunities to its residents and businesses.” Indiana Gov. Mike Braun welcomed the team’s announcement.
J.T. Poston handles the wind at Memorial for low round of tournament and the lead
DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) — J.T. Poston knew he was in for a long and windy day at the Memorial. He also was eager to try a golf ball geared toward helping him in the wind. It was a rousing success. Poston shot a 65 to build a one-shot lead over Ryan Gerard. That score was nine shots better than the field average. Justin Thomas made the cut on the number and said it was as hard as any course he has played including the majors. Scottie Scheffler thought he might shoot 90. He was off. He rallied for a 72 and was 10 back.

During the 15-minute portion of practice that was open to the media, the 26-year-old Richards showed no signs of any issues as he warmed up with the rest of the team.
Stadium workers near Los Angeles vote to authorize a strike days before the World Cup begins
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Stadium workers near Los Angeles have voted to authorize a strike as the venue prepares to host the U.S. men’s soccer team’s opening World Cup match. The union representing 2,000 bartenders, servers, cooks and dishwashers at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, held a vote on whether to authorize labor negotiators to call for a strike after long-running talks have failed to yield a new contract. The vote lets labor negotiators call for a strike, but it isn’t known if they will. The stadium will host the U.S. soccer team’s opening World Cup game against Paraguay on June 12.
Corey Seager hits a 2-run homer in his Rangers return, snapping an 0-for-29 skid
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Corey Seager homered to end a career-worst 0-for-29 slump after being activated from the injured list. The five-time All-Star shortstop had missed 19 games for the Texas Rangers because of lower back inflammation. Seager hadn't played since May 13. The Rangers also activated Wyatt Langford, who doubled ahead of Seager's homer in the sixth inning Friday night against Cleveland. The outfielder missed 39 games with a right forearm strain. To make room on the roster, Cody Freeman and Alejandro Osuna were optioned to Triple-A Round Rock. Seager and Langford played in two rehab games together at Double-A Frisco.
