LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — New body camera footage shows Louisville Metro Police officers rescuing a boy from a house fire.

LMPD posted on social media Thursday new body camera footage of officers responding to a call several months ago about a house fire with children trapped inside.

When officers arrived on scene, they were met with thick, black smoke, flames billowing from the home and people crying for someone to save the children.

When Officers Capito and Richardson arrived, they ran inside the burning home to find the missing boy trapped inside.

The body camera footage shows a neighbor climb through a bedroom window to help pass the unconscious child outside to safety.

The boy was rushed to the hospital where he spent weeks recovering from severe burns. Another boy was also received severe burns in the fire.

A few months later, the boys' mother, Brandi Rayburn, reached out to LMPD asking if her sons, Camdyn and Coltyn, could meet the officers who saved their lives.

LMPD said in the post, the reunion finally happened.

"I appreciated much more than 'hey, you did good from a commanding officer or a letter, like having kids cry seeing you, it's like a different feeling. I would do it again," Officer Capito said.

The two boys also gave the officers gift baskets to thank them for saving their lives.
