LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman is dead after a house fire in Louisville's PRP neighborhood early Friday morning.

According to PRP Fire Chief Jason Meiman, fire officials were called to the 7200 block of Alameter Court around 2:45 a.m. on reports of a structure fire with a rescue.

Heavy fire was discovered in the rear of the house when they arrived. It took 42 firefighters around 25 minutes to control the fire.

A woman died in the fire, and the Jefferson County Coroner later identified her as 68-year-old Angela Parsons. The cause of death was ruled an accident from smoke inhalation.

Louisville Metro Arson is conducting the investigation.
