LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) — A body was recovered from a lake at Long Run Park Wednesday evening after rescue crews spent hours searching for a person who fell out of a kayak earlier in the day.

Col. Kent Kruer with the Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS said crews were called to Long Run Park around 12:46 p.m. on a report of a person who fell out of a kayak. Crews from Anchorage Middletown and Louisville Fire & Rescue responded to the park with boats and divers.

Kruer said witnesses saw the kayaker — a white man believed to be in his mid- to late-30s — fall out of the boat. They attempted to reach him but couldn't.

The park is located on Long Run Park Road, off Long Run and Flat Rock roads. That's not far from Valhalla Golf Club.

In an update, Louisville Metro Police Department said crews recovered the body of an adult man from the lake around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday evening.

LMPD said the death remains under investigation. The cause of death has not been released.
