LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Jefferson County Public Schools is bringing in an educator with more than 30 years of experience to lead its academic department.
Superintendent Brian Yearwood announced Wednesday that Nathan Balasubramanian will serve as the district's new chief academic officer. He replaces Angela Hosch, who resigned July 1, less than six months after taking the position.
Hosch stepped down after learning her qualifications for the position had been changed without her knowledge.
Her resignation was one of several leadership departures at JCPS this summer. The district has also lost its chiefs of health, communications, information technology and human resources.
Balasubramanian brings more than 30 years of education experience to JCPS. He joins the district from Broward County, Florida.
As chief academic officer, Balasubramanian will oversee the district's academic work and help guide instruction across JCPS schools.
His appointment comes as the district prepares for the upcoming school year.
