LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Louisville Zoo said its three Amur tiger cubs born in May are all female.
Zoo officials announced in June that the cubs were born May 27 to parents Viktoria and Timmy. The birth marked the first time in 22 years the Louisville Zoo has welcomed three Amur tiger cubs.
After weeks of monitoring, the zoo's veterinary and animal care teams safely separated Viktoria from her cubs in order to conduct exams on them. The cubs are "healthy and progressing well," the zoo said Wednesday.
"Once the cubs have received all of their early health exams and become strong enough to navigate the dynamic topography of their outdoor habitat, they will make their public debut," Ron Evans, general curator from the zoo, said in a news release Wednesday. "This will happen in the early fall around September. For now, we hope our community enjoys catching exciting moments with them on our live stream. The cubs can be rambunctious, and mom may choose to relocate them periodically, so we encourage viewers to check back often!"
