LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Local health departments in Indiana will see millions of dollars in new funding this year.
The General Assembly passed a new law last year to create the Health First Indiana initiative.
The historic investment in public health will give a total of $75 million to 86 counties in the state.
Locally, Floyd, Clark, Scott, Jackson, Jennings, Jefferson and Washington counties will all benefit from the funding.
The money will be used to improve access to public health services for pregnant mothers, children, people with chronic diseases and more.
Each individual health department will decide how to spend the money.
