LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The former home of a Louisville guitar shop once known for attracting some of music's biggest names has a new owner.
The Guitar Emporium building at 1610 Bardstown Road sold in July for $742,500, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.
Guitar Emporium operated out of the Highlands for more than 40 years and drew customers including The Rolling Stones, U2, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and ZZ Top.
The store closed its Bardstown Road location in 2022 and later moved to Maxwell's House of Music in Jeffersonville.
Hunter Purnell, a Louisville real estate agent with Alluvium Real Estate, purchased the property through 1610 Bardstown Road LLC.
Purnell plans to spend more than $100,000 on renovations, including a new roof, HVAC system and porcelain facade, along with new front doors and a window.
Once the work is complete, he plans to lease the building and said he has already heard from interested businesses.
The property had been scheduled for a July 22 auction with a minimum bid of $675,000, but it sold before the auction.
