LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is facing felony charges after police say he and an accomplice would scour the streets, looking for abandoned vehicles to steal.
According to an arrest report, 31-year-old Michael S. Cravens and 26-year-old Christopher Ovington would ride around the city, looking for vehicles left on the interstate or abandoned on the road.
When they found them, police say they would call a wrecker service and have them towed to places like ISA Recycling on Grade Lane, near Melton Avenue.
Police say Cravens himself had scrapped eight cars, and was now paying other people to do it.
Cravens and Ovington were arrested at ISA Recycling Wednesday evening, after trying to scrap a white van that had been towed from I-264, near the 3rd St. exit. The owner of the vehicle allegedly told police that the van just had a flat tire, and he'd left it there temporarily until he could get it fixed.
Both men are facing theft charges.
