KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) -- Police in central Indiana are continuing to investigate a series of shootings near downtown Kokomo that left one man dead, two men in serious condition and a woman in fair condition.

Police Chief Rob Baker tells the Kokomo Tribune that police are trying to determine a motive in the shootings. Thirty-6-year-old Turama Stitts of Kokomo was arrested Thursday and is charged with one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder. He is being held in the Howard County Criminal Justice Center.

Three people were shot Thursday and one Wednesday. Police say 48-year-old Argena Williams died Thursday. The other three were taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. A spokeswoman says Ricky Patterson and David Gibson are in serious condition and Miriam Mallory is in fair condition.
