LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)  -- A homeowner was pistol-whipped and another person was locked inside a dog cage during a violent home invasion in Germantown.

The homeowner recently had surgery, so his family had installed surveillance cameras to keep an eye on him and now police are hoping images from that video will help lead to an arrest.

The home invasion was fast, violent and unexpected.

"[The suspects] forced the victims onto the ground and went through the whole entire house looking for the items they were seeking," Said Det. Arron Tinelli, with LMPD's 4th Division.

Images show two suspects coming through the door, guns drawn, demanding money and valuables at the home of a man who is not well.

Det. Tinelli said, "He recently had brain surgery and hip surgery. I think that it shows that they have no value for life, they have no value of anything...they're just there for themselves, getting what they needed to get and they didn't care who was in the way."

It happened last month on Forrest Street in Germantown.  Police say once inside the home, the suspects did more than just take money and valuables.

Det. Tinelli said, "They actually struck the one victim that had the brain surgery in the head with the gun and the gun went off, luckily it did not strike him."

Det. Tinelli says another man inside the home was also attacked. "They put him inside the cage that was made for the dog at one point during the robbery."

The violence wasn't just limited to the humans inside the house. "They attempted to shoot the dog," said Det. Tinelli.

"The assailant with the blue coat aimed at the dog and attempted to shoot it on several occasions."

Police have identified one of the suspects and hope you can help find him.

"And we're asking for everybody's help to try to locate this individual before he commits anymore violent crimes, it's Anthony P. Cawthorn," said Tinelli.

Right now, police are still trying to identify the second suspect in the case.

If you know either man, you can call the department's anonymous tip line at 574-LMPD.
