LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Two Elizabethtown firefighters were bitten by brown recluse spiders after the station became infested last week.

According to Amy Inman, a spokesperson for the City of Elizabethtown, a spider infestation broke out early last week at Elizabethtown Fire Department Station 3.

Officials said firefighters relocated to Station 1 Thursday after they found several brown recluse spiders.

The two firefighters bitten were treated and released, and two more firefighters were possibly bitten, Inman said.

The fire station is currently undergoing spraying, fogging and dusting.

Officials said crews are cleared to return to Station 3 on Wednesday, but, out of an abundance of caution, shifts will resume there Thursday.
