LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Power has been fully restored one week after an electrical fire at a high-rise residential community operated by the Louisville Metro Housing Authority caused an outage.

The fire occurred at St. Catherine Court in Old Louisville on Saturday, Dec. 27, and no one was injured.

According to LMHA, the building’s safety response system was activated, but it caused additional damage to the electrical system.

The outage impacted nearly 130 residents, who were given the option to stay with friends or family or at a hotel with their accommodations covered.

“I am incredibly proud of our staff and deeply grateful to our community partners who stepped up during this emergency,” said Elizabeth Strojan, executive director of LMHA, in a news release. “Their collaboration made a difficult situation easier for the families we serve.”

LMHA said all residents are now able to return home.
