LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Consumer Reports, Good Housekeeping, The Economist, Newsweek and Popular Science -- these are just a few of the 160 popular magazine titles that offered free of charge to library card holders beginning on December 1st. This new service at the Louisville Free Public Library, called eMagazines, will allow library patrons to read, interact with, and explore digital copies of their favorite magazines, completely free of charge. Even better, eMagazines will be available 24 hours a day through the Library's website, LFPL.org, allowing patrons to browse and read whenever they want, regardless of the Library's hours.

Offered through a program called Zinio for Libraries, each magazine is recreated page-for-page, including high quality, full-color pictures, while adding interactive components such as key word searches, hyperlinks, audio and video. Issues can be downloaded for free, allowing patrons to store them on their personal eReading devices for offline access. Zinio is compatible with PC and Mac computers, tablets, most color eReaders, and other Internet-enabled devices. Magazines can also be read online through Zinio's interactive eReader.

To access eMagazines on or after December 1st, library card holders can visit www.LFPL.org/eMagazines, or click on the "eMagazines" button on the home page.  Step-by-step instructions, a "How To" video, and tech support via email are all available to help get patrons started.
