LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — An inmate from the Nelson County Correctional Center walked off his work program Tuesday and is now on the run.

Jerry Nation fled from his work duties near Wire Lane in Bardstown, Kentucky, around 3:30 p.m., according to Nelson County Jailer Justin Hall.

Nation was participating in garbage pickup duties in coordination with the Nelson County Road Department as a part of 12-month sentence. He was expected to be released November of this year.

Hall said once Nation is located, he will face additional charges and potentially get another five years added to his existing sentence.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts should not approach Nation and should call 911.

Police are still searching for a man who escaped last week from a transport vehicle outside the Nelson County Correctional Center in Bardstown, Kentucky.
