LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A street sign honoring the life and legacy of late Jefferson County Sheriff John Aubrey was unveiled Tuesday morning.
The sign sits outside the Hall of Justice in downtown Louisville, put up in honor of Jefferson County's longest-serving sheriff.
Aubrey died in September 2025 at the age of 86. He was headed to retirement at the end of his seventh term.
Tuesday's sign unveiling was attended by his family, friends and former co-workers.
"Today, we are going to dedicate the street sign. We do more than remember," said Councilperson Ginny Mulvey-Woolridge, R-District 24. "We affirm that his impact will not be forgotten. His legacy will continue to guide this community for years to come."
Several people took photos by the honorary street sign to remember Aubrey.
