GOSHEN, Ky. (WDRB) -- A storm cell late Tuesday morning caused trees to fall onto several homes in Goshen.

Trees were uprooted off US 42 near Belknap Farm Road and Club Drive, just north of North Oldham High School near Sojourn Church North. At least two trees fell on houses.

"The rain came suddenly," said Polly Richards, who lives in the area. "Just a big burst of rain came down hard, and I looked out the back window, and the rain literally was blowing sideways. It was so strong. Trees were blowing in the back."

Richards said it didn’t last long, but when the rain stopped, there was a significant amount of damage outside. Several large trees were knocked over, street signs on the ground and debris spread out across the area.

And a short time later, city crews were on the scene cleaning up the mess.

"It was crazy in the backyard, and I didn’t realize this big tree had gone down until I looked out my kitchen window and it was a beautiful big oak tree that fell across the street," Richards said.

The National Weather Service said the damage in Goshen was done by straight-line winds, not a tornado. The NWS doesn't plan to survey the damaged area.
