LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some Jefferson County Public Schools' elementary students took home free books on Thursday thanks to a local foundation.
The Addie and Baylor Kirchgessner Foundation allowed students at Gutermuth Elementary School pick out a new book for free to take home.
The students got a special visit from WDRB News anchor Fallon Glick, who read to some of the students Thursday morning.
The foundation is named after Addie and Baylor Kirchgessner, who were killed in a car crash while on a family vacation.
The two young children loved to read, so now their parents honor their legacy by giving out books to other children.
Nearly 50,000 books have been distributed, and the foundation wants to keep going strong.
You can donate to the foundation Thursday on Give For Good Louisville to help buy even more books for kids.
