LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Shively resident was arrested Sunday after police said a woman was stabbed inside a home in the 3300 block of Fernheather Drive.

Don Smith, 49, was taken into custody and is charged with first-degree assault and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.

Shively police said officers were called around 2:30 p.m. for a report of a stabbing. When crews arrived, they found a woman in her late 20s suffering from multiple injuries.

She was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive, according to police.

Investigators said the suspect was still at the scene when officers arrived. With help from Louisville Metro Police SWAT, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
