LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A proposed UPS project could bring a major expansion to its Louisville healthcare and laboratory operations.
According to our partners at Louisville Business First, UPS filed plans to develop two new phases of its Labport facility on a 10.59-acre site at 8203 National Turnpike near Outer Loop. The property is currently home to the UPS Employment Center.
The first phase of the project would include a new 13,047-square-foot building on the east side of the existing facility. Plans indicate the building would provide additional office and laboratory space and add 167 parking spaces.
A second phase would add a 56,622-square-foot expansion designed for laboratory operations. The proposal also includes a new access point from National Turnpike.
It is unclear when construction could begin or how much the project may cost, LBF reported. It is also unknown whether the UPS Employment Center would remain at the site once development moves forward.
The planned expansion would add nearly 70,000 square feet of office, lab and laboratory space to the campus.
