LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville area residents waiting for their trash to be collected will have to wait a little longer because of Winter Storm Blair.

There will be no curbside waste collection on Tuesday, the Louisville Metro Department of Public Works said Monday evening.

Garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection from Monday and Tuesday won't be rescheduled. The city said garbage will only be collected Wednesday-Friday for homes regularly scheduled for collection on those days.

Residents who have an appointment to dispose of large items will be contacted to reschedule.

The city's Waste Reduction Center, Haz Bin, and recycling drop-off locations that are staffed will be closed Tuesday but will reopen Wednesday.

Metro Public Works said nightly waste collection in the downtown Louisville area will resume Tuesday night.

Recycling and garbage will be collected next week, but crews will not be taking yard waste.

The city said the Recycle Coach calendar will be updated to reflect the delays caused by the winter storm.

Rumpke said the winter weather has also impacted its services across Kentuckiana. It's warning residents that conditions may delay waste and recycling services.

Customers who usually have Monday and Tuesday pickup will have to wait until next week. Rumpke said they will collect extra material when they pick up.

Wednesday-Friday service is expected to be on schedule, but crews will continue assessing road conditions.
