LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman died at a Louisville hospital Monday evening after she was hit by a car while riding a "motor type bike" near the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood.

Police were called to the 8000 block of Cane Run Road just after 6 p.m. on the reported crash, Louisville Metro Police Spokesperson Aaron Ellis said in a statement. That's near Global Drive, not far from Riverview Park.

Once on scene, police found the crash and began speaking with witnesses. Investigators believe a woman wearing dark clothing was riding a "motor type bike" southbound on Cane Run Road without proper safety equipment, including proper lighting, when she was rear-ended by a pickup truck. Ellis said the bike was described as a "scooter/dirt bike homemade type vehicle."

The man driving the truck stopped, called for help and stayed at the scene until first responders arrived. Ellis said officers rendered aid to the woman, who was transported to University of Louisville Hospital where she died shortly after arriving.

Ellis said no other vehicles were involved, and no charges are expected to be filed.

LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating.
