Woman's 'obviously deceased' body found outside Fairdale home

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LMPD is conducting a death investigation after the body of a woman “obviously deceased” was found outside a home in Fairdale on Wednesday.

Officers were dispatched to a call of a “person down” in the 800 block of Cheri Way just off National Turnpike in Fairdale. When they arrived, they found the body of a woman, but investigators refuse to give further details.

“We do suspect foul play," LMPD Spokesman Dwight Mitchell said. "We do not know exactly what form of foul play at this point, but based on the evidence, we do believe it’s there."

For several hours Wednesday afternoon, investigators could be seen talking with those who live nearby and local businesses, searching for any information about the death.

Aside from seeing a few police officers every now and then, neighbors are shocked a death like this is so close to their homes.

“The worst we’ve had down here is breaking and entering and drugs and the normal stuff around here, but gosh, a murder or a killing or whatever has gone on down there,” said Roger Nelson, who lives a couple homes away from the scene. “It’s like wow, you don’t hear this every day.”

Robin Black’s father owns the home near where the woman's body was found and lives there with his girlfriend. She said her father would always have people over.

“He would always help everybody," Black said. "Even people on the streets."

LMPD said they are following leads in the case. If you have any information that could lead to an arrest, you are urged to call the anonymous tip line at 574-LMPD.
