LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- YouTube TV plans to raise the price of its monthly subscription in 2025.

According to an email sent to current subscribers Thursday morning, the $10 increase for its base plan is set to take effect Jan. 13, raising the monthly fee to $82.99 from $72.99.

The message to customers said the increase is necessary to "keep up with the rising cost of content and the investments we make in the quality of our service."

It also cited the channel's features, including unlimited DVR storage, the ability to view multiple channels at the same time, and a growing library of titles.

In August, YouTube TV officials announced a new feature called "Fantasy View" that allows subscribers to connect their fantasy football accounts to their YouTube account.

YouTube TV has rolled out a series of price hikes over the years.

When launched back in 2017, the going price of its streaming package was $35 a month. By 2019, that fee rose to $50 — and has climbed higher and higher since.

YouTube last increased its price in March 2023.

The message said subscribers always have the option to cancel or pause the service at any time.
