On Sunday, iconic actor and director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michelle, were stabbed to death in their home. We lost a creative giant whose work will live on for generations. It was a tragedy. But President Donald Trump made some disgusting, unnecessary and highly inappropriate remarks when he tried to make the murders about himself.
To refresh your memory, he said "Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME ..."
Nobody reported that except Trump. Nobody. But let's stay on track.
Trump ran for president on the platform of Make America Great Again. I support many of his policies, but is having no manners, no respect and needlessly insulting a dead man a path for greatness? As a "leader," he is telling Americans that manners and civility don't matter anymore. Well, they do matter.
Decades and even centuries from now, historians will likely study the juvenile behavior of this president and the toxic social effects it had on our society. They will be hard pressed to explain the abysmal conduct of using a family tragedy for political point getting.
What are your thoughts?
