All year round, we run stories about murders, arson, corruption and about generally horrible people who take but never give back. But this time of year, we see so much kindness and generosity too.

Local television stations help to focus that energy of generosity. WAVE has their Angel tree, which provides an easy path for you to buy a present for a child in need. It's a wonderful program.

WLKY works with Toys For Tots and the Salvation Army during the holidays.

WHAS supports the Crusade For Children year round.

WDRB has Jude's Jingle Tree for Home of the Innocents.

And all of your local stations support The Red Cross who are always there to help people in a time of crisis or need.

These events raise millions of dollars every year because of the generous hearts of our viewers. People feel good to have a reliable, organized way to share some of their good fortune with those who may be struggling. If you haven't found that outlet for your generosity yet, think about any of the ones I've mentioned, including Jude’s Jingle Tree, which runs through Friday.

When you see people looking out for people, asking nothing in return, it's easy for this to be the most wonderful time of the year.
