Last week, I tried to share why many conservatives and the Trump administration do not support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs.
This week, I did more homework so I could share why many liberals and progressives do support DEI initiatives.
Supporters of DEI believe it promotes fairness and equality, it fosters innovation and creativity, and it rights some wrongs done to minorities through the years that severely disadvantaged them.
I don't think DEI should be completely shut down nor do I think we should have the full progressive version of DEI. Something in the middle is probably what most Americans would support.
Here's what our viewers had to say:
"DEI literally makes it so employers hire on merit. That's the whole point."
"I believe there should be some fairness in there, but there are some jobs that need the brightest. And I don't care what color you are or what sex you are as long as you're the most qualified for the job."
"Diversity, equality and inclusion policies do not give unearned privileges. They make sure qualified individuals get a chance."
"DEI isn't extreme. What's extreme is still debating whether fairness should come with conditions."
"This isn't about partisan politics, or balancing ideological viewpoints. It's about justice, equality and basic human decency."
