A federal judge is decrying efforts to rewrite the history of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol as he reluctantly dismissed the seditious conspiracy case against members of the far-right Oath Keepers extremist group at the administration’s request. The move Tuesday closes the book on the Jan. 6 cases that were wiped out with Republican President Donald Trump’s pardons and commutations last year, which freed people convicted of violent assaults on police and other crimes. The Justice Department in April acted to vacate the convictions of Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes and others convicted in the seditious conspiracy case who didn’t receive pardons.

London police have arrested a woman after four people were stabbed in the busy Covent Garden area. Authorities say early indications suggest it was a mental health-related incident. Scissors were recovered at the scene. Four men were found with stab wounds after the incident on Wednesday afternoon. Two of the injured were discharged, while two remain in a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said it appeared to be an isolated incident.

An Australian jury has convicted the British social media celebrity and rapper Yung Filly of assaulting a fan following a music performance two years ago. The jury did not find him guilty of allegations that he raped and choked her. The 30-year-old entertainer, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, wept after the verdicts were delivered Friday in a Perth court. He had pleaded not guilty to six charges of rape, three charges of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of choking in a Perth hotel room in September 2024. The accuser cannot legally be named. She was 20 at the time.

Bullets recovered from two bystanders killed during a shootout at a Seattle festival last weekend do not appear to have come from the gun that a 15-year-old arrested at the scene was firing, police said in court documents filed Wednesday. The King County prosecutor’s office filed charges of first-degree assault with a firearm enhancement as well as unlawful possession of a handgun by someone under 18. In a statement supporting the charges, police said the teen was seen firing an untraceable ghost gun into a crowd, but preliminary testing of bullets recovered from two bystanders killed showed they did not match that weapon. Shell casings found at the scene of Sunday’s shooting indicate four weapons were fired during the shootout.

Four women have accused Jared Leto of sexual misconduct when they were teenagers, to which the actor and musician responded that he has “never sexually assaulted anyone.” He said in a statement Wednesday that the “claims are absolutely and categorically false.” The documentary "Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret" includes claims from four women who accuse him of misconduct between 2002 and 2016. The BBC says it corroborated the women's accounts, but they could not be independently verified by The Associated Press. The documentary does not identify the women by their full names. Leto is a 54-year-old Oscar winner and the frontman of the band Thirty Seconds to Mars.

Gunmen have attacked a community in northwestern Nigeria, killing at least 30 people and injuring several others. Residents reported the attack occurred late Sunday night in Naridon village, Kaduna state. Derek Christopher, from the Southern Kaduna Peace and Security Network, noted this is the second attack on the community in a year. Raphael Joshua, a local resident, said bodies have been taken to a nearby hospital. Kaduna State's commissioner for home affairs, Sule Shu’aibu, said he had not been briefed on the attack. Armed groups, known as ‘bandits’, frequently carry out raids in the region.
