The Indiana DNR confirmed in a news release Friday the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), also known as the bird flu, was found in a blue-winged teal in Greene County, which is west of Bloomington.

According to the Indiana Board of Animal Health, the highly contagious avian flu, also known as bird flu, can spread through a turkey farm in a matter of days.

It is also moving some of its birds to protected areas.
