Coffee with Crawford | Louisville bettors were left in the dark Saturday, but that’s about to change
Louisville’s victory over Bowling Green on Saturday was never really in doubt.
Jeff Brohm didn't waste the bye week relaxing. That's for the offseason, he said.
The defense argues that Joseph Lawson should have been given a directed verdict (or acquittal) by the judge after the prosecution finished its case.
A jury of 15 people, including three alternatives, were seated Tuesday, and opening statements will begin Wednesday morning for defendants Brooks Houck and Joseph Lawson.
It's rare in Kentucky for murder cases to make it to trial without any of this evidence, attorneys told WDRB News.
Lawson, 54, was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence on May 30.
Nelson County Judge Charles Simms III ruled Tuesday that Houck and Joseph Lawson will be tried on June 24, 2025, in Bowling Green. Co-defendant Steve Lawson, who will be tried separately, will stand trial on Feb. 11.
Nelson County Judge Charles Simms III ruled Tuesday that co-defendant Steve Lawson will be tried separately because he has given hours of "ever evolving," or contradictory, testimony.
In a hearing focused on whether to separate the trials for Brooks Houck, Joseph Lawson and Steve Lawson, prosecutor Shane Young was asked by the judge whether the searches in early September would produce more evidence in the case.
"No, sir, not much," Young told Judge Chares Simms III.
Kentucky and Tennessee health officials are coordinating efforts to evaluate exposures.
