The family of 10-year-old Carter Willett told him the news on Wednesday that his cancer is in remission.

Lifelong U of L fan, Allen Norton, was cheered on by fans as he lead the Cardinal Marching Band during the performance and his story was shared with the thousands of fans who packed the stadium.

Carter Willett celebrated his 10th birthday Thursday, and his mother, Kimberly Willett, said he has received more than 13,000 cards and counting.

Carter Willett was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a type of bone cancer, in the fall of 2018.
