Shields she comes to Louisville after resigning from Atlanta's police department in June 2019 after the fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks, a Black man whom police shot and killed during a struggle in a Wendy's parking lot.
A church clergyman said the church had reached an agreement with the Louisville Metro Police Department that protesters would be asked to leave the church at 11 p.m. and will have 45 minutes to clear out.
The person narrating the department's Facebook livestream said fireworks went off inside the vehicle. A Louisville Fire Department crew extinguished the blaze.
Officers surrounded between 12 and 15 protesters near the intersection of South Sixth and West Chestnut streets.
Some groups marched peacefully to honor Taylor, an emergency room tech and former EMT, while other demonstrators broke windows, set fires and raided businesses.
