Charlestown Mayor Bob Hall, a Republican, who was seeking a fifth term, was defeated by Democratic challenger Treva Hodges, who won by 30 votes. 

Republican Bob Courtney and Democrat Julie Berry square off on November 5th for Madison' mayor seat. 

The move comes after Mayor Damon Welch died last month.

Welch died Wednesday in his second term as mayor at the age of 66 after experiencing a health problem.

Mayor Damon Welch died from health complications on Wednesday morning.

Welch was a Madison native who had been mayor since 2012.

Bryan Hernandez moved to Madison at the age of 12 from El Paso, Texas. He said the 2016 election was a turning point that helped prompt him to run this race.
