Bullitt County Fiscal Court has increased security measures in place after a cyber hack involving Judge-Executive Jerry Summers.
The suit was filed Dec. 14 on behalf of those who are or were patients or were affiliated with Norton.
Norton Healthcare said at least 2.5 million people will soon receive letters in the mail informing them they were impacted by a cyber attack in May that exposed a wide array of sensitive information.
That lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court on Friday, July 21, by Lanisha Malone, a former employee who worked at Norton Healthcare from 2015 to 2022 and a longtime patient of the network.
This number of data breaches, as they are often called, represents an astounding 421% increase from 2014 to 2021, according to a WDRB News analysis of publicly available data.
The department is taking steps to alert veterans whose information was compromised.
UK Healthcare said a third-party vendor, Blackbaud told the university in July that data was taken "by an unauthorized individual" between Feb. 7 and May 20, 2020, according to a news release.

In a statement, Clearview AI's attorney Tor Ekeland said that while security is the company's top priority, "unfortunately, data breaches are a part of life.
IT experts are still working around the clock to figure out what all was compromised, officials said.
