Power has been fully restored one week after an electrical fire at a high-rise residential community operated by the Louisville Metro Housing Authority caused an outage.
The agency is largely funded by federal money.
A celebration was held Wednesday to mark the 500th home purchased through the LMHA program.
The power outage occurred in the C Building of Dosker Manor due to a burst sprinkler in one of the apartments around 12 a.m. on Saturday.
The Louisville Metro Housing Authority is responsible for providing housing for thousands of thousands of people in Louisville.
With a shortage of affordable housing options that will take Section 8 vouchers in the city, LMHA said it has a plan to help developers build new affordable housing.
The challenge for LMHA will be moving residents to places that meet their needs.
A man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed during an altercation in downtown Louisville on Sunday evening, according to Louisville Metro Police.
Officials plan to help current residents find a new place to live, and re-location meetings will begin at the end of this month.
LMHA leadership told Metro Council the public housing is too expensive to operate and would cost a fortune to rehabilitate.
